Adult Training
I really started my training career with adults, teaching Word, Excel and Powerpoint from 'computing for the Terrified' to more advanced courses, and was astonished when I was thrown in with children. There is a perception that we see children using computers so we must be way behind and they must be brilliant. Adults are cautious, they wait for the full instruction, they pause before every action ('Is this right?'). Kids, on the other hand, I was astonished to find, just do stuff until they get what they want, and if it goes wrong, they just start again. You'll also notice that they often only do relatively simple 'technical' actions - don't be fooled by how fast they appear to do things. Remember, children often choose to only use the areas of IT that they are comfortable with, and they tend to jump in, and just notice less often when things don't go how they expected.
I have a long and successful record of training adults, both individuals and small groups. It is great to work with individuals as we can cover exactly what's needed, but small groups also get a buzz, and bounce ideas around.
And if you've ever seen a child who's become scared of learning, just think how anxious adults are! The main considerations for teaching adults is to structure the learning in a logical, step by step, block by block way, to explain where this learning sits in the broader scheme of things and most importantly, building confidence.
Popular skills include using the Microsoft Office suite, and I have taught groups and individuals from beginner to advanced, including writing macros, using mail merge and advanced formatting. I especially enjoy delivering training in Excel spreadsheets mainly because of the awesome power and information these can deliver.

School Training and INSET
Staff in schools have a particular need, as they have the pressure of not only understanding the material well enough to technically lead classes, but also to look at the best ways to approach teaching and learning of different aspects of IT, and how to provide support and guidance for all abilities and styles of learning...that's tricky.
I have a very good understanding of the IT curriculum, huge experience of many areas of IT including Scratch and other programming, animation and sound recording, with over 7 years' experience of teaching IT in the classroom. I can also lead discussions on getting progression, and differentiation in the classroom. I can also help with curriculum planning and have a vast collection of cross-curricular resources and ideas.
